Who are we?
Brindabella Chorus is a dedicated group of singers from all backgrounds and with all levels of musical experience who love to sing. We work together every week to achieve excellence in singing and performance. We enjoy competing in singing competitions. In 2022 we won an Australian championship and October 2023 we won the international Sweet Adelines International small chorus championship in Louisville Kentucky.
Who are we looking for?
We're keen to welcome new singers who love to perform and are keen to further develop their skills. Singing experience is helpful but not essential. We sing without instruments and perform without sheet music, so you need to be able to learn your music, confidently hold your part and sing in tune.
We need all types of voices, although we're always particularly looking for low voices. If you find traditional women's voice parts to be too high or you often end up singing men's tenor in choral music, we definitely have a place for you!
Brindabella Chorus welcomes cis and trans women, as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centres on the experiences of women. All singers need to be able to sing comfortably in the SAT ranges (soprano/alto/tenor).
What happens on the night?
Everyone gets to sing! We'll suggest a part for you to try, then everyone will participate in warmups. Next the chorus will sing for you and then we'll learn some music together. It will be a fun and inclusive evening.
If you decide to continue, over the next few weeks you'll participate in rehearsals and learn a song in preparation for the audition, which isn't as daunting as it might sound - you won't have to sing alone, this is not Australian Idol! See our Membership page for more information about the audition process.
Where and when?
