Chorus History
Where it all Began
Brindabella Chorus is located in Canberra, the national capital of Australia.
It takes its name from the range of hills to the west of the Australian Capital
Territory, and reflects the fact that members come from all around the region,
not just the city of Canberra.
The chorus was established in 1991, with support from our male counterparts,
the Barbershop Harmony Club of Canberra. We sang for assessment at the Sydney
Convention in 1994, and after the longest gestation period in Sweet Adeline
history, we were chartered in 1996, just in time for the Gold Coast Convention in June.
Since that time, we have attended seven more conventions, and have increased our score
on each occasion. We have two registered quartets, Synchronicity and
Joules.
We are taking every opportunity to perform, and over the last year have
performed at the War Memorial, Floriade and many other prestigious locations. We also competed
in the National Eisteddfod at ANU.
The Present
Our chorus recently competed at our National Convention, placing 2nd overall
in Australia out of a field of fifteen choruses. The chorus had 51 enthusiastic
members competing, and now numbers 62 members!
Our talented Musical Director, Glenda Lloyd, our capable music staff and enthusiastic
management team continue to inspire us all to bigger and better things both musically
and administratively.
